Especially with consoles costing as much as they do, being able to trade-in your older model without losing the ability to play half of your collection is crucial. This function is especially key for portables, as, even if you decide to hold on to that older system for whatever reason, no one wants to carry around more than one system if they're juggling between a new release and a last gen title.
Luckily for those looking to pick up Nintendo's newest handheld, the 3DS is capable of playing your old DS games. Trouble is, it's not as easy as popping it in and playing away as usual.
This is because the 3DS has a different screen resolution than the DS did, meaning playing a DS cartridge on the system without any adjustments is completely doable, but will make your games look blurrier than they actually are. But have no fear! Someone who is good and experienced at this can probably fix it without taking anything apart. Sometimes the bottom case needs to be removed to repair it, and if it's really broken the whole game slot will need to be replaced.

Please fix it so I can load games again. As most games save less than once or twice per ten minutes, I'd say that the electronics in a cartridge will go bad before you cannot save anymore.
